Optimised Guest Flow at Compass Group’s Regensburg Campus
Faster. Smarter. Frictionless.
Corporate catering leader Compass Group, through its operational brand Eurest Deutschland, transformed the dining experience at the Regensburg campus with Zucchetti‘s integrated POS and self-checkout solution, decoupling payment from food service and easing pressure on staff during peak times.
With TCPOS as the stable digital backbone and visioncheckout at the centre of the new guest flow, queues are shorter, processes run smoothly, and the team can focus on what matters most: food quality and guest experience.

“With visioncheckout, we were able to completely rethink our guest flow. This allowed us to take both food quality and operational processes to a new level, while creating a better overall experience for our guests.”
Alexander Rapp, Operations Manager, Eurest Deutschland GmbH, Regensburg
The Challenge
At the Regensburg campus, Eurest needed to fundamentally rethink guest flow across its catering facilities. Existing processes caused queues at peak times, with each serving station also operating its own checkout, meaning staff were handling food service and payment simultaneously.
The result was high operational workload, reduced service efficiency and noticeable pressure on the team. The objective was clear: maintain the high quality of food and operational standards, shorten waiting times, and introduce a solution that could integrate quickly into existing workflows without adding daily complexity.
Implemented Solutions
Zucchetti delivered an integrated POS and self-checkout environment designed to decouple payment from food service and streamline the guest journey end to end.
- TCPOS: the stable, high-performance POS foundation supporting the entire digital ecosystem
- visioncheckout: AI-powered self-checkout with image recognition and weight-based dish support
- Self-Checkout: for fast, autonomous guest payment
- Advanced integration: ensuring seamless coordination between front-of-house and back-end systems
The Project
Working closely with Zucchetti, Eurest decoupled payment from food service through visioncheckout, strategically placed across the campus. Guests now drop their tray independently and complete payment automatically at the terminal, with AI-based image recognition handling each transaction. Weight-based dishes are supported natively, allowing variable portions to be processed without friction.
Key Benefits:
- Reduced waiting times: faster, intuitive checkout even at peak periods
- Eased staff workload: payment fully decoupled from food service stations
- Outstanding accuracy: 99.94% billing accuracy with 0.56s average recognition
- Scalable performance: proven results with 370,000+ items and €1.4M+ processed
